Surrey Eagles 2020 All Star Challenge

Surrey, B.C. – The Surrey Eagles are thrilled to present the 2020 Eagles All-Star Challenge, to take place inside the South Surrey Arena on Friday, December 4th at 6:30pm PST.

Amid the extended Provincial Health Orders which impacted the BCHL’s ability to play games, the Eagles are pleased to present an event that will not only give our players some competition to look forward to, but also bring exciting hockey content to our fans and supporters.

“This is something that came together rather quickly. We had been toying with this idea for some time,” noted Eagles’ Assistant General Manager Charlie Black, “before we realized just how golden this opportunity could be. With no games and endless practices, finding motivation is key for all of us, not just players. This All-Star Challenge gives us that perfect combo of competition, showmanship, and just pure fun.”

The Eagles’ All-Star Challenge will consist of the following skills competition events: Fastest Skater, Hardest Shot, Puck Control Relay, Accuracy Shooting, Goalie Save Streak, and the ever-popular Breakaway Challenge. Other skills events will be held, and will be announced closer to the All-Star Challenge.

Following the skills events, we move to a 3-on-3 split-squad minigame. Our All-Star Captains, Kieran O’Hearn and Jimmy Darby, have held a fantasy draft to fill their rosters. These draft results can be found on our social media channels. In the white jerseys will be Team O’Hearn, and in the green jerseys, Team Darby.

“In a year unlike any other, this event gives us a glimmer of excitement during uncertain times,” continues Black. “We are also eager to see what this event could be in the future, when we are able to have fans with us in the rink again.”

The festivities will be broadcast on BCHL TV, powered by HockeyTV. Warmup begins at 6:30pm, with Skills Competition running until approximately 8:15pm. The 3 on 3 mini-game begins at 8:30pm. As always, a free audio-only call with Eagles play-by-play voice Cole Marton will be available at mixlr.com/EaglesBCHL.
