Black Scores Twice In Loss To Chilliwack

The Surrey Eagles started their weekend road trip with a fantastic first period against the Chilliwack Chiefs, but couldn’t hold on to the lead, dropping the game by a score of 5-2 on Saturday night.

Kurt Black burned his former team twice in the first period, scoring his 16th and 17th goals of the season. The first goal was a tap-in after a shot from Logan Mostat created a rebound. The second goal was set up by an Eagles defenceman, when Tyler Cooper was able to hit Black with a beautiful feed. Black did the rest, dekeing out Chiefs’ starting goalie Aidan Pelino with a slick move to make it 2-0.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, that would be the only offence they would receive on the night. The Chiefs roared back in front of a home crowd of over 2,500 at Prospera Centre to score five unanswered goals.

Four goals in the second period, including two from Jesse Lansdell, gave Chilliwack a lead that they would not relinquish. The final dagger in the heart came in the third period when Linden Hora scored to put the game out of reach.

It’s a quick turnaround for the Eagles, who head to Langley for an afternoon affair against the Rivermen on Sunday. Game time is 3 PM.
