Gage Mackie – #18
An Anchoarge, Alaska native, Gage Mackie comes to the Surrey Eagles from the prestigious Shattuck St. Mary’s Prep school, where he spent his midget years. Now 18 years old, the 6-foot-3, 185 pound forward plays an intimidating power forward role with the Eagles.
Although he likes to crash and bang, he also possesses a scoring touch, which is usually uncommon for players of that style. He has recorded 18 points on the season so far, which is fifth-best on the team. He is committed to Arizona State, where he will play for the Sun Devils as they transition into a division I NCAA hockey team.

1. What is your pre-game meal?
“Protein pancakes. They’re made of egg whites, oatmeal, cottage cheese, and some vanilla. Yeah, it’s a thick pancake.”
2. What is your favourite type of music?
“Rap, for sure. I’m definitely the DJ in the dressing room.”
3. What is your favourite movie/TV show?
“My favourite TV show would have to be Gossip Girl, and my favourite movie is Step Brothers.”
4. Xbox, Playstation, or neither?
“Neither. Most of the guys on the team game pretty hard, but me and Paul (McAvoy) like to just watch a movie and take naps.”
5. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or none?

6. Favourite NHL team?
“The LA Kings. Milan Lucic is my favourite player.”
7. If you could have any two linemates from the NHL, who would you pick?
“I’d go with a couple young guys, Connor McDavid and Dylan Larkin.”
8. What is your go-to breakaway move?
“I don’t score on breakaways (laughs). I’ll go fake backhand, top left corner.”
9. Who is the funniest teammate?
“Kurt Black, for sure. He says some pretty crazy stuff. He just never fails to surprise you.”
10. What is your favourite sport (other than hockey)?
“Golf.”
