The Surrey Eagles are proud to announce that former Surrey Eagle Karel St-Laurent will be participating with the Vancouver Canucks at the Young Stars tournament.
St-Laurent has parlayed an excellent showing at the Vancouver Canucks prospect camp in July into an invite to the Vancouver Canucks Rookie Camp and participation in the 2011 Vancouver Canucks Young Stars Tournament in Penticton, British Columbia beginning on Sunday, September 11th. The tournament features players from the Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg Jets, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks.
Last season with the Eagles, the 6’4 St-Laurent played in 32 regular season games. He had a 19-12-1 record with a 2.74 GAA and 91.6 save %. In the playoffs, St-Laurent was 10-6 with a 2.20 GAA and 93.4 save %.
St-Laurent enjoyed his time and opportunity with the Eagles “I received this opportunity because of the Surrey Eagles and my experience in the BCHL, I am very thankful to the Eagles organization for giving me a chance.”
Rogers Sportsnet Pacific and Rogers Sportsnet West will broadcast games Sunday, September 11th beginning at 7:30 p.m. (PT) versus the Edmonton Oilers prospects and Monday, September 12th beginning at 4:00 p.m. (PT) versus the Calgary Flames prospects.
