Roster Announced For Surrey Eagles Alumni Game

Some of the most well-known names in Surrey Eagles history will be making their way back to South Surrey Arena to help kick off the 26th season of the franchise. Longtime NHLer and former Eagles’ forward Scott Gomez will be on hand at the home opener on Friday, September 9th to drop the puck at the ceremonial faceoff. He will return to the ice on September 10th, the following day, at 4 PM when an exhibition game will be held between the current Eagles squad, and an alumni roster.

The alumni roster has been officially announced, with many former fan-favourites returning to the ice at South Surrey Arena:

Competing alongside Gomez will be the recently hired assistant coach of the current team, Colin Hemingway, as well as a variety of other former Eagles players from the past 25 seasons. Former Eagles Peter Wishloff and AJ Begg will not be participating in the game, but will be acknowledged during the home opener. There will also be a memorial to Jeff Nabseth at the event.

The off-ice staff for the alumni team will be made up of coaches Rick Lanz, John Short, and other former trainers and equipment managers.

There will be an autograph session prior to the home opener, at 6:30 PM on September 9th.
