EAGLES OWNERSHIP GROUP

Chuck Westgard has been a staple in BCHL ownership for the past 9 years with the Surrey Eagles organization. Westgard has always been community minded and has always had the desire to provide ambitious young men a chance to move up the ranks in hockey and use the game of hockey to further their education as well.

Born and raised in British Columbia, Chuck attended the University of Washington to study business and economics while on a full ride scholarship for baseball.  He then went on to play internationally for Team Canada and professionally for the New York Yankees Organization. Chuck is now actively involved in several areas of the community. He has coached numerous sports teams for over 25 years; which includes leading seven Women’s Fast Pitch teams to National Championships. Chuck is a successful real estate businessman, and owns property in a number of areas across the Peninsula. He is also greatly involved with several local charities and organizations as well as sponsoring numerous amateur sports teams and associations.
Westgard gained majority ownership in 2010 with partners Gary Nylund and Scott Bradley. Nylund played 11 years in the National Hockey League for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks and New York Islanders; and Bradley has spent the last 18 years working with the Boston Bruins, first as a B.C.-based scout before rising through the ranks to his current position as director of player personnel. He also played in the B.C. junior league, for Abbotsford and Langley, in the early ’80s.

Westgard’s ownership oversaw the Eagles winning the BCHL League Championship and Western Canada Cup, eventually losing in the National Championship semi-final in 2013. Westgard became 100% owner of the team in 2014 and has continued to support the local Jr. A Hockey Club.

After another successful run in 2018 to the Divisional final, losing in 7 games to the Prince George Spruce Kings, the Eagles Ownership and Management are hungry for another National Championship run.

Without Chuck Westgard and the supporters of the Eagles, we would not be able to provide opportunity for young men to live out their dream hockey dream, while getting an education or give the local community fun, inexpensive entertainment. So, along with Chuck, we thank you all for your support of this hockey club and keeping the Eagles soaring!
