Eagles Trade Davidson To La Ronge Ice Wolves

The Surrey Eagles have dealt longtime goaltender Daniel Davidson to the SJHL’s La Ronge Ice Wolves in exchange for future considerations. This deal reduces the number of goaltenders on the roster to two, with Kyle Dumba and Cayden Bailey taking the reigns for the rest of the season.

The Eagles organization would like to thank Daniel for his dedication to the team over the past five seasons, and wish him the best of luck with his new team. Davidson is the all-time franchise leader in games played by a goaltender with 112. The next closest goaltender is Jason Genik, who played 90 games from 1992-1994.

“Moving a player like Daniel away is never easy,” said Eagles general manager Blaine Neufeld. “He is an incredible young man that has experienced a lot of adversity, and continues to rise to the occasion.”

Davidson, 20, set a career-high with a .901 save percentage last season, and appeared in his first career playoff game. He was also named as the team’s “Fan Favourite” in a ballot that took place at South Surrey Arena.

“Daniel is a hard-working individual with an incredible amount of character,” Neufeld added. “I know he will find success in the game of hockey and in life because of those characteristics. He has given a lot to this organization and developed into a starting goalie. We can’t thank him enough for being there for the boys in his five years with the team.”

The Eagles next home game is scheduled for this Sunday afternoon vs the Victoria Grizzlies.
