Eagles Drop Bulldogs 3-1 In Alberni

The Surrey Eagles picked up an important two points on their weekend road trip against the Island Division. After dropping a 4-1 decision the night before in Powell River, the Eagles travelled to Alberni Valley for an afternoon game against the Bulldogs.

The game was a tight-checking affair, scoreless after two periods of play, but both teams opened up in the final frame. The Bulldogs opened the scoring, but it was Max Mohagen and Matthew McKim scoring two quick goals, 27 seconds apart to be exact, to give the Eagles a lead they would not relinquish. Liam Ryan added an empty netter to make the final 3-1.

Hayden Missler picked up the win, but was removed from the game with just over 8 minutes remaining after being run over by Keaton Mastrodonato of the Bulldogs. Missler was playing in his first game back from injury. Cayden Bailey had to come in cold and made 5 stops the rest of the way to secure the victory.

The Eagles now return to home ice for a mid-week game against the West Kelowna Warriors. Those two teams will meet for the second and final time of the season at 7 PM on Wednesday at South Surrey Arena.
