Eagles Press Release

Surrey Eagles Main Camp opened this week with many new things to get excited about. A new coach, many new players and a renewed optimism that the 2017/18 hockey season will see the Eagles sore back to the top of the Mainland Division of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL).

New players with the Eagles include:

Dominic Dumas – A 1999 birth-year, Dumas comes to the Eagles from Trail where he finished last season with the Smoke Eaters. He is a speedy offensive player with the skill set to excel at the BCHL level.
“Our rink and training facilities are great here in Surrey,” said Dumas. “The support us new guys get from the coaches and the vets is definitely a lot better then I’ve experienced in the past. It’s just way better to be an Eagle.”

Cody Schiavon – This product of Kelowna is very excited to make the move to the coast and join the Eagles following his time with the Major Midget program in the Okanagan.
“Playing in the BCHL means a lot to me,” said Schiavon. “Growing up watching West Kelowna play as a kid, this was always a dream of mine.”

McKenzie Merriman – Having been a local Semiahmoo Minor Hockey player, wearing the Eagles jersey holds a special meaning to the talented defenseman.
“It’s very cool to be able to wear this jersey every night,” said Merriman. “I grew up watching and idolizing guys on the Eagles and it’s going to be a thrill to give back to other local players who will come out to watch us play.”
