Forward Rocco La Cara Commits For 2020-21

Surrey, B.C. – The Surrey Eagles are proud to announce the team has committed forward Rocco La Cara (03) for the 2020-21 B.C. Hockey League season. The young forward joins Holden Cardinal, Tait Ross, and Max Prazma as players who have made the jump to the team from the Canadian School Sport Hockey League (CSSHL) for the upcoming year.

La Cara joins the team following a year spent with the Burnaby Winter Club U18 team. Last season, Rocco scored 16 goals and 33 points in 34 games to finish 3rd on his team in scoring. The left shot forward stands 5’6, and weighs 152 pounds.

For Rocco, it’s a big step to make the jump to the BCHL as a 17 year old. Rocco admitted, “I’m super excited to play in the BCHL. I think Surrey is a great team to play for. They’re a great group of guys and I love the fact I’ll get to skate on the olympic sized ice.” Rocco understands it’ll be a challenge skating against some of the vets in the BCHL, but is excited to be able to play with some of the veterans on this Eagles team. “I think being able to look up to all the vets; they’ll all be great role models and motivate me to grind and work hard in practice. It’ll give me the time to learn off of them and adjust to the league and play my game.”

For fans who haven’t seen him play with the Burnaby Winter Club, Rocco says his speed and shot will be among his best assets next season. “My offensive abilities are my strong suit. I’m a player who uses my shot and speed to create opportunities for my teammates.”

Eagles Head Coach Cam Keith gave Rocco a unique description when describing the newest forward on this Eagles team. “Rocco’s a junkyard dog with great hockey sense. He’s undersized but you wouldn’t know it by the way he plays. He plays big, he’s got a ton of heart; an everyday kid who gives you all that he has. He’s going to be a big time player moving forward in his career once he figures things out in the league. He’s got a willingness to play in whatever spot we’ll need him this year, and I believe he’ll transition quickly to the [BCHL].”

Welcome to the flock Rocco!
