Eagles Win Their 4th Straight Against Coquitlam

Burnaby, B.C. – The Surrey Eagles (8-2-1) continued to hum along in their 2021 Pod Season presented by Shaw on Friday night and cruised to a 5-0 win over the Coquitlam Express (4-6-2). The win is Surrey’s 4th in a row, and they’ve scored a combined 32 goals on the win streak.

Max Prazma was the starter and made all 26 saves in the contest before being forced out of the game due to equipment malfunction. Tommy Scarfone came on for the last 8:31 of the 3rd period but was not tasked to make a save. Dylan Kruss gave up 5 goals on 41 shots in the loss. Surrey got goals from 5 different players en route to the win. Holden Katzalay, Jimmy Darby, Holden Cardinal, Buddy Johnson, and Luke Roberts scored in the victory.

In Eagles head coach Cam Keith’s mind; “Special teams and solid goaltending was the difference tonight.” When asked about his goaltender, Keith heaped praise upon his rookie netminder. “Max was tracking the puck well and controlling his rebounds. He made some big saves in the 2nd period which ended up being the difference-maker.” Coquitlam’s best period was the middle frame, where they put 17 shots on goal but Prazma shut the door.

The Eagles scored 3 of their 5 goals on the powerplay, improving their league-best powerplay up to a whopping 34.8% on the season. “The guys are using all the available options with quick puck movement. We have so many talented kids that can play different spots it allows us to make in-game adjustments with ease.” Surrey went 3 for 8 on the powerplay and took the game over with 2 of them in the 3rd period to put the game away.

The Eagles will look to continue their win streak on Sunday with an afternoon affair against the Powell River Kings. Puck drop is slated for 1:00 pm inside the Scotia Barn. You can watch the game live on BCHL TV (Powered by HockeyTV), and on mixlr.com/eaglesbchl.
