Eagles Congratulate Spencer, Bradley

SURREY – The Surrey Eagles Hockey Club wish to congratulate two members of the 2013-14 Valley West Hawks for outstanding achievements during the BC Major Midget League season.

Valley West head coach Tom Spencer was named the BCMML Coach of the Year this week. Spencer, who will be joining the Eagles as a full-time assistant coach for the 2014-15 season, led the Hawks to a 27-11-2 regular-season record, good for third in the league standings. The Hawks’ playoff run culminated in the BCMML final against the eventual Telus Cup bronze medalist Okanagan Rockets.

Spencer was a frequent contributor during Eagles practices last season and the club would like to extend a warm welcome in his more prominent role this fall.

Forward Matt Bradley, an Eagles affiliate player during the 2013-14 season, was also named this week to the BCMML All-Star Team. The Surrey native led his team and finished fourth in league scoring with 39 goals and 71 points, along with 94 minutes in penalties from 37 games played. The 16 year-old made 8 appearances in an Eagles uniform this past season.

Bradley, a draft pick of Medicine Hat in the Western Hockey League, joined the Tigers during their run to the WHL Eastern Conference final, appearing in 17 games.
