Eagles Commit To White Rock Native Ty Brassington For 2021-22 Season

Surrey, B.C. – The Surrey Eagles are proud to announce the team has committed to White Rock defenseman Ty Brassington (04) to the team for the 2021-22 season. The young defenseman joins the team after spending 3 seasons with the Delta Hockey Academy.

Ty last played a full season during the 2019-20 season, as most of his season in 2020-21 was shut down due to the global pandemic. In Ty’s last full season with the U15 Delta Hockey Academy Wild, Ty played in 33 games and scored 3 goals and had 12 points with just 6 penalty minutes.

For the young defender, Brassington is ready to make the jump to the BCHL with his hometown team. “I’m a hometown boy, and it’s always been a dream of mine to play for the Eagles. My grandparents used to bring me to all the games, so I’m excited to play and to have received this opportunity.” Continuing on the hometown point, Brassington mentioned how excited everyone around him is. “It means everything to me. My parents and all my friends are so happy for me, and I’m so excited to get the season going and have friends and family watch me this year.”

For Brassington’s rookie season, he’s looking to really establish himself as a consistent player. “I’m hoping to become a steady player while learning as much as I can. I’ll do my best to help us win every game so we can have a great season.”

For fans who haven’t gotten the opportunity to see the young defenseman play, Ty’s highlights his ability to be a consistent defender on the blueline every game. “I believe I’ll be a smart player on the ice every game. I’ll look to play with pace and move the puck well while being a great person in the room.”

When asked about what Ty will bring to this team, head coach Cam Keith was excited to see what this late blooming defenseman can offer. “Ty’s a late bloomer type whose really grown into a big, smart puck moving defenseman. I wasn’t sure he’d be able to make the jump to Jr. A this year but he grew so much the past 6 months and doesn’t look like he’s 17. He’s mature beyond his years, he’s a local kid who’ll add some depth defensively and be depended on in all sorts of roles. He’s got an offensive mind as well and can chip in when we need it. He’s a kid for the future and we believe he’ll make a good adjustment into this d-core with other guys he’s played with from Delta like Tait Ross and Tate Taylor.”

Welcome to the flock Ty!
