Brandon Santa Juana Commits to University of Connecticut For 2021-22!

The Surrey Eagles are extremely proud to announce Brandon Santa Juana has committed himself to the University of Connecticut for the 2021-22 season! Santa Juana’s NCAA Division 1 commitment is the first commitment from an Eagles player during the 2019-20 B.C Hockey League campaign.

Santa Juana has been a local mainstay in the Eagles lineup since being brought onto the team out of training camp during the 2018-19 season. The Langley native had 12 goals and 10 assists as a 16 year old with the Eagles, and has built on his early success with 3 goals and 8 assists for 11 points in just 15 games this year.

The former Delta Hockey Academy product with one of the best smiles in Eagles franchise history, is excited for the opportunity that lies ahead. “I’m unbelievably excited, it’s life changing.” Santa Juana also explained why he chose the University of Connecticut instead of going somewhere else. “I went on a tour there a couple of years ago, it’s a great campus and the facilities are amazing.”

Head Coach Cam Keith echoed the excitement surrounding Santa Juana’s commitment, telling SurreyEagles.ca, “Well deserved! Santa Juana had a lot of different options, and I believe he picked a school that’ll give him the best opportunity to continue pursuing a professional hockey career.”

Eagles fans will get the opportunity to watch Brandon for not just this season, but the season after as well! Brandon’s next game with the Surrey Eagles is tonight, as the Eagles get set to take on the Langley Rivermen. More reaction of his commitment will be revealed during the broadcast, starting at 7:00pm!
