Bentley University Commit Cole Galata Returns to Surrey for 2021-22 Season

Surrey, B.C. – The Surrey Eagles are proud to announce forward Cole Galata (02) has returned to Surrey for the 2021-22 BCHL season. Galata played in all 7 pre-season games before being traded to the Summerside Western Capitals.

For Galata, it was quite the 2020-21 season. After being traded to the Capitals in January 2021, Galata wound up playing 17 games with the Capitals. Cole scored 1 goal but added 16 assists to average a point per game on the year. In 5 playoff games, Cole scored 2 goals

For Galata, playing in the MJAHL was a great learning experience in Junior A. “I think the game out [in the MJAHL] is very physical. Every time I touched the puck I was getting hit by a lot of older guys in the league. I learned how to handle the more physical side of the game and adjust my game to develop and help myself produce.”

Cole will use the experience from this past season to help propel himself in the BCHL with the Eagles. “I’m hoping to have a bigger role on the team, and be a leader. I want to be someone the coaching staff can rely on in all situations. I want to bring what I learned from last season to this season to be a go-to guy to help Surrey continue being a top team.”

Finally, it’s an exciting time for Cole as he returns to a team he knows heading into his age 19 season in junior hockey. “There’s a lot to be excited about. It’ll be great to see all the guys I wasn’t able to play with last year. Cam [Keith] is a great coach, and Surrey is a great organization. I’m so excited to jump back into the BCHL and be an Eagle again.”

Welcome back to Surrey Cole!
