American Forward Evan Brown Commits To Surrey For 2021-22

Surrey, B.C. – The Eagles are proud to announce the commitment of forward Evan Brown (03) to the team for the 2021-22 BCHL season. Brown is the first new American committed to the team for the upcoming season, and comes from the North Jersey Avalanche U18 team. Evan is from Little Silver, New Jersey and is a right handed shot.

The first thing that strikes out when looking at Brown is his incredible playmaking ability. During Brown’s 2019-20 season, he played 74 games with the New Jersey Rockets U16 team, scoring 16 goals and adding a fantastic 70 assists for 86 points. This year, Brown has played 10 games with the North Jersey Avalanche U18 team, scoring 5 goals and adding 12 assists for 17 points at the time of this writing.

For Evan, when asked about his play style, Evan highlighted his playmaking ability. “I’m a playmaker who makes smart plays with a high IQ. I’ll look to rely on my intelligence and skill to succeed.”

When asked about why he chose Surrey to continue his junior career, he highlighted the Eagles coaching staff as a huge turning point. “Cam [Keith] seems like a great guy and a really experienced coach who I feel can help me develop my game and get me to the next point in my career. It’s a great location and the team looks good next year.”

Finally, for a skilled playmaker like Brown, extra space will be huge for him as he looks to run the offense. When asked about playing on the olympic sized ice inside the South Surrey Arena he was quick to emphasize the extra time and space he might have. “Definitely more time to make plays, and it’ll become more of a skill game. There’s more time and space for not just myself, but other players on the team.”

For Cam Keith, it’s another highly skilled player to add to his current core for next season. When asked about Brown, Cam emphasized his high end skill, “Evan is a kid that brings the wow factor every time he touches the puck. Every play he makes has a degree of deception which allows him to find teammates in quiet areas of the ice. He’s a natural playmaker who also plays a 200 foot game. We anticipate Evan will play a big role on our powerplay and in our top 6.”

Welcome to the flock Evan!
