Player Spotlight – Jeffrey Stewart

Jeffrey Stewart – #11

Surrey Eagles standout rookie Jeffrey Stewart has made quite an impact this season. The 17-year-old graduate of the Valley West Hawks minor midget hockey program has been a force for his hometown team all year long. With 30 points so far in 2015-2016, he impressed enough to earn a spot on this year’s CJHL western prospects team. He recorded an assist on his team’s only goal at the event, hosted at the South Surrey Arena.

As a skilled forward, Stewart is valuable to his linemates because of his smart playmaking skills. He possesses a long reach, and can finish plays when the situation arises. He is a mature player for his age, and is rarely sent to the penalty box. In 42 career BCHL games, he only has 27 penalty minutes.

To learn more about Jeffrey, we asked him 10 rapid fire questions. Read on to find out what his answers were!

“I like Suits. My favourite movie is probably Taken 2 with Liam Neeson.”

4. Xbox, Playstation, or neither?

7. If you could have any two linemates from the NHL, who would you pick?

8. What is your go-to breakaway move?

“I try to go forehand, backhand. [Connor] McDavid sort of copied me, but it’s alright.”

9. Who is the funniest teammate?

“Kurt Black. He’s just a character and you never know what’s going to come out of his mouth. He’s always a good time.”

10. What is your favourite sport (other than hockey)?

“My favourite sport to watch other than hockey is NFL football. I’m a really big Seahawks fan. My favourite sport to play other than hockey is baseball, which I play every spring. I just like to change it up from the ice, to the nice outdoors.”
