NCAA-Committed Jordan Robert To Play For Surrey In 2016-2017

The Surrey Eagles are extremely excited to announce that Gunnery Prep’s Jordan Robert has committed to playing for the team in 2016-2017. The 5-foot-11, 180 pound Robert is also committed to play for Clarkson University’s division I NCAA hockey team in 2017-2018.

The 18-year-old Robert is a native of Massena, New York, and will look to make an immediate impact for the Eagles.

“The BCHL provides an offensive game for me that no other league can compare to,” Robert explained in an interview with SurreyEagles.ca.

“I’ve talked to many players that have came from the BCHL who now play division 1 NCAA hockey, and I was told by every single one of them that they were prepared to compete at that high level because of the league they played in. I’m looking forward to being a big part of the Eagles.”

Robert sees himself as a hard-working forward, who relies on his speed and vision to make plays. He has an excellent first step, and uses that ability to get around defencemen and take the puck to the net.

He has also been noted for having “silky smooth hands” and plays “a bigger game than his size.”

Surrey Eagles head coach and general manager Blaine Neufeld had specifically targeted Robert this offseason, and is thrilled to be bringing in a player of his calibre.

“Players like Jordan Robert are exactly what we need to bring a championship team back to Surrey. We need players that are committed to winning, and he fits the description perfectly.”

Neufeld also sees Robert’s commitment to Clarkson University as a major plus.

“The fact that he’s already committed to a NCAA division I team shows that he wants to keep improving as a hockey player, and play at the highest level possible. He will be a great addition to our team’s culture.”

For Robert, next season can’t come soon enough.

“I just want to be in Surrey already. Every day it comes to mind. I can’t wait to get out there!”
