Eagles season comes to a close following 3-0 defeat
Tuesday, April 3, 2012 - Submitted by Dan Marshall
The Surrey Eagles lost Game 5 of the Coastal Conference Final 3-0.

With the win the Powell River Kings captured their fourth consecutive Coastal Conference Championship.

In the first period Evan Richardson scored at 3:13 to put the Kings in front, and Dan Schuler extended the lead on a power play at 18:17.

Cohen Adair capped the scoring at 16:55 of the third and Sean Maguire recorded a 27 save shutout.

Andrew Hunt faced 37 shots for the Eagles.

On special teams Surrey was 0/1 while Powell River was 1/3.

Monday's Three Stars were 1) Sean Maguire 2) Chris Williams 3) Cohen Adair

This marks the second straight season that the Kings have beaten the Eagles in the Coastal Conference Final.

The end of the series marks the final game in a Surrey uniform for the team's five 20 year olds - Tyler Morley, Steve Koshey, Linden Saip, Robert Lindores and Brandon Tanev.

Five more players will be heading to the NCAA next season.  Brayden Jaw (Harvard), Alex Hagen (St. Lawrence), Matt Cronin (Merrimack), Andrew Hunt (Clarkson) and Charles Orzetti (Yale).  Tanev (Providence), Koshey (Alabama-Huntsville), and Morley (Alaska Fairbanks) will also join the college ranks.

Surrey will have a strong returning core next year and the playoff experience gained in 2012 will help the entire organization in the future.
