Jeffrey Stewart Named to CJHL Prospects Roster

The rosters for this year’s CJHL Prospects game were announced this morning, and Surrey Eagles’ forward Jeffrey Stewart will be suiting up for Team West.

The Junior A showcase event will take place on January 26th at South Surrey Arena, and features the top players from across Canada. The full rosters for Team West and Team East are listed on the CJHL website.

Stewart (’98) is a Surrey, BC native in his first full season with the Eagles, and has amassed 14 points in 23 games so far. The highlight of his season came on November 25th against Merritt, when he scored his first career hat-trick. The five-point game was one of the top performances from any Eagles forward this season.

The 6-foot-3 Stewart is third on the Eagles in points-per-game, trailing only Paul McAvoy and Kurt Black – who are both at least two years older than him. His physical style has also led to 16 penalty minutes.

There are nine total players from the BCHL taking part in the game for Team West.

The head coaches for both teams were also announced. Brandon West, head coach of the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, will be behind the bench for Team West, and Nick Greenough of the Valley Jr. A Wildcats (Maritime Hockey League) will be in charge of Team East.

Scouts from across North America will be making their way to Surrey to see the brightest prospects that CJHL Junior A hockey has to offer, in what should be a very exciting event.

Tickets for the game are still available for only $10, and can be purchased by calling 604-531-GOAL, or by visiting the Surrey Eagles office.
