Headed To Windsor: John Wesley Commits

The Surrey Eagles are pleased to announce that their assistant captain and BCHL-leading goal scorer from last season, John Wesley, has committed to playing U Sports hockey for the University of Windsor next season. The White Rock, British Columbia native will be joining fellow BCHLer Chays Ruddy of the Prince George Spruce Kings, as per an announcement from the school.

Wesley joins the University of Windsor Lancers after an exceptional final junior season with the Eagles, in which he scored a league-leading 37 goals and added 31 assists for 68 points in only 56 games. Wesley also notched an additional 12 points in 13 games during the team’s playoff run this season.

Wesley finished his BCHL career with a total of 107 BCHL games played, all with his hometown Eagles.

“We are very excited to see Johnny continue his hockey career through post secondary education at University of Windsor,” head coach Brandon West told SurreyEagles.ca. “He’s put his time in through the junior ranks and to see him get an opportunity like this, we can’t be any more proud of him.”

Lancers head coach Kevin Hamlin also praised the now-former Eagles sniper in a team release, which called Wesley a “highly sought after recruit.”

“John is a highly skilled forward who brings a dynamic offensive game to our line-up next season,” said Hamlin. “We are excited to see how his game can develop even further in the OUA.”

On behalf of the Eagles organization, we wish John the best of luck in his academics and on the ice at his new school!
