Darius Davidson Reaches 200 BCHL Games Played

On Sunday afternoon versus the visiting Cowichan Capitals, Surrey Eagles assistant captain and leading scorer Darius Davidson will hit quite the milestone: his 200th career BCHL game.

Davidson, a Surrey native, has also appeared in 14 playoff games throughout his career. Only 21 of his 200 games were spent away from the Eagles, last season during a short stint with the Penticton Vees. He also sits tied for 16th on the all-time Eagles scoring list, trailing Michael Stenerson by one point, and Scott Gomez by three. Davidson needs only 16 more points to crack the top ten on the list.

Growing up in Surrey, Davidson played with Semiahmoo minor hockey, finishing his career with them in 2013. He joined the Eagles the very next season, appearing in 56 games – where he amassed 5 goals and 3 assists in his rookie season. Since then, he has posted 118 points in 143 games – closer to the point-per-game average that fans have grown accustomed to later in his career.

During his path to 200 games, Davidson had an impressive ironman streak where he played 165 straight games. Eagles Alumni Shane Kuss is believed to have the BCHL ironman record of 240 straight games. How’s that for some Eagle Pride! Davidson’s 165 straight games was finally broken last season because of an illness. He has appeared in each of the team’s 34 games this season.

Come celebrate the milestone, which also happens to fall on the same day as the annual Teddy Bear Toss game! Doors open at 3 PM for a 4 PM puck drop. Bring a stuffed animal to throw onto the ice when the Eagles score their first goal of the game, or purchase one at the arena from the Surrey Christmas Bureau. All proceeds will go to Surrey Christmas Bureau.
